I’ve been asked to cover a three hour shoot and then edit the resulting material. Travelling time to and from the venue will be about three hours. I estimate that it’ll take two hours to backup the footage and pre-prep some of that before I can start editing. I’ve been briefed that it’ll be two or three scenes and I’m estimating about six hours work to edit and render it.
I usually work on a content-share basis so don’t have a daily rate nor do I have any real idea of the going rate (or range of rates) for the job. Content-share isn’t on offer this time.
Can I take advice on:
- whether it’s regarded as reasonable (or is standard practice) to charge for travel time to and from the shoot venue?
- What a reasonable daily rate is for, in effect, an 11 hour day (without travel) or 14 hours (with)?
I assume travel expenses - around £25 - would be expected to be met separately.
I’d be grateful for any advice anyone can offer.
