For a Better Future
365 days, though lost to time, are enough to take a toll.
A year in which we mourn, repent, change, and learn, So through the memory lane of 2020, let's take a stroll.
Answer a wake-up call that ignites the fire of what must burn.
Much has happened...
An equal opportunity offender, a global pandemic,
Infecting every individual it encounters as the economy craters.
Hold your breath outside the four walls you see everyday.
The virus smiles, its work is done. Mankind is doomed.
But that's just what the virus thinks.
Churning in great waves of flames leaves nothing but ashes.
Life-taking for those who fairly clasp their prey and live with roots.
A forest named home lost to many innocents.
A wildfire in disguise is a solar wind within, engulfing...
As is the rising temperature, melting perfect crystals and
Disrupting balance; climate change is a forgotten fire in a frozen world.
The infamy of systemic racism, acknowledged by humanity.
Full-force BLM movement is the antidote to ignorance.
Crystalline awakening to honourable collectivism.
Look! The definition of hero has changed.
It’s doctors, nurses, teachers, scientists
And all those who have patience, stamina
It’s us: those who keep the world running
Now let’s wish for greatness in the new year,
That all our painful battles will be won;
When all our fears will cease to exist,
With a ray of hope greeting us through the clouds.
Though “good riddance” is suitable for some, let it not be.
Learn from what we once were and what goals we can pursue.
Let us delve into the depths of the mirror of 2020.
Let us, you and me, begin the change that was long overdue.
