The tools and apps used in this thread are. Meta-Humans. Unreal Engine and it's plugin MetaHuman Animator, iOS Live Link Face. Along with Davinci Resolve, and in the full processing of a video release iZotope and finally hand break.
Rokoko Vision AI for MoCap and Daz 3D will also be deployed.
All of which are free high end apps, dedicated to multimedia and film industry, with exception of iZotope an app luxury item.
Really there is only one piece of hardware needed to create movies from the above and that is an iPhone 12 or above. Actually I bought my first one just to test this out. Within an hour or two of getting the iPhone I was able to control the facial animation of a very lifelike character in a movie setting. I didn't actually use the live link function, but simply uploaded the tiny face scan file from the iPhone to my google drive and loaded it to there.
Now obviously there was a massive learning curve to be able to use all of these apps, but they are also very well documented on YouTube in great detail along with various resources in the form of doc's and user groups.
Essentially I got full body and facial mocop for a 300 quid second hand iPhone 13. Although I bought a Manfrotto holder for it, and obviously have ring lights tripods and stands just like everyone on OF and those who offer remote shooting. Also although it doesn't come into it right at this moment as it's all a virtual production I have a camera. Though something to record sound separately from a iPhone speaker is pretty essential for quality.
Still the entire set up ( apart from iZotope) could cost less 500, as opposed to a full motion rig from rokoko at 50K, which would give better results.
Of course the fun starts now, as a remote actor probably has a newish iPhone already and as a performer that's all they would need, and a clean space with a plain background. How much space, how clean a back ground, what colour and where to put a camera is all explained in a simple and concise way usually with videos and photos on all of the sites where the apps listed above live.
Anyone familiar with Withnail and I will be aware that living near Penrith is miserable in terms of weather, but today we have very fast internet due to low population and easy access. And while it is true that a sex performance would be a technical challenge actual movies tend to fake that part. But real movies are mostly not made of action, but of talking heads.
Any way if you want to see for your self how far Mata humans and Unreal Engine have come check out the latest Black Panther scene for Unreal Engine 5.4 that guy look pretty real, or Unreal used with real actors as seen in Dune.
Later we will be looking at AI body mocap and incorporating AI voice generators to give actors a better vocal range. Then looking at Apples face kit with other 3D models like Daz Studios Zombies, so in a few hours we could have a AdultFolio performer running round his living room in Birmingham appearing as a zombie with a Scottish accent and hard cock in a movie made in Penrith and sold in California. If that isn't the definition of progress then nothing is.
