I’m unsure whether any members have worked with Mia Split, but I’m devastated to report that she took her own life on Friday aged just 23.
Mia was Russian and had been trained from a young age to be an elite gymnast. The training regime she went through sounded awful. She had not long fled Russia and was living in Budapest, leaving everything behind and being unable to return without the threat of arrest. She had left a pet sable behind too, which she spoke so fondly of (even though it sounded terrifying to me)!
She adored Budapest and was forever smiling. Her smile was infectious and always made everything seem better. She had a simple life in Budapest but was so grateful for everything, not least to be free, without war, and able to express herself.
She liked this photo so I wanted to share it here.
Mia was a wonderful human and friend. Rest in peace.
