My background is in the tamer genres namely fashion/lifestyle/portraiture so finding a suitable location to shoot has never really been an issue.
For me at the moment one of the biggest obstacles is finding decent appropriate locations to shoot adult genres. (erotic art, not porn)
My own home is better suited to a DIY SOS shoot currently and from previous experience some models homes are not much better or are worse. On more than one occasion I have spent the first 30 minutes tidying a model's home prior to a shoot.
I'm not a massive fan of photo studios many are generic or you're at the mercy of the studio manager.
I've considered hiring hotel rooms or Airbnb properties but was wondering on the legality of that presumably their insurance wouldn't cover photo-shoots and some Airbnb properties don't allow events. I'm not even sure if a shoot would be classed as an event.
Anyone have experience shooting in hotels or Airbnb? Do you state your purpose for the hire and if so how is that generally received?
Or do you just book and shoot without informing the proprietors?
