As a mature pre-op transgender model, it is hard to compete with all those beautiful girls out there.
However, for me the effort is so much worth it. First of all I enjoy the actual shoot. I love getting my makeup done, when I can I prefer having my makeup done by a professional MUA. I find it so relaxing having somebody work on my face, making me looking my best, and having a nice chat while my makeup is being done. Then working with a photographer is so nice, especially if they are they are creative. Regardless of their creativity, I always learn something new each session, which by itself makes it rewarding. Some shoots can be pretty exhausting, the longest one I have ever done lasted 8 hours, with a short lunch break and a couple of smoke breaks, I was really worn out by the end. But it was so worth it, as he was a perfectionist and the images turned out great!
And of course I love the results of the shoots. I love seeing my pictures online and I love it even more if other people see them! I am a late bloomer, both as a transgender (although I knew I was one at the age of eight) and as a model, and it is so rewarding to get nice comments and likes on my pictures, even though I am quite a mature model :)
I guess I am a bit of an exhibitionist. The more people see my pictures, the happier it makes me! Therefore I never mind if my pictures show up in unexpected places on the internet. And yes, I do get the occasional hate messages, but the positive reactions by far outweigh them. So I will keep on doing this as long as I can, and as long as there are photographers that want to shoot me!
