Those of us who are old enough to remember when film was the only option to capture images, will remember the law of Reciprocity (Schwarzchild's law). They'll also remember that the law fails with long exposures, more than 1/15th sec with colour film, more that 1sec with B&W film, or thereabouts.
Modern DSLR's appear not to suffer from this. Is it because the sensors are immune, or is there a algorithm in the exposure system that compensates?
